6 Monroe and Madison bore no resemblance to each other. Monroe was six feet tall and seven years
younger than the five-feet-four James Madison. Apparently the book’s publishers were made aware of
this egregious error and quickly rushed into print a replacement edition. Another glaring error that was
corrected by republication was the assertion that the Constitutional Convention (1787) was portrayed in
“the delightful musical 1776.”
